If you have ever arrived to the few days before payday without any money then you will know how much this sucks. It is something which happens to most of us at some point but that doesn’t make it any easier.
On the face of it spending a bit of time without much money doesn’t seem like a huge disaster. However, it is worth considering some of the reasons why this is so annoying.
Another Birthday…don’t their Parents Plan these Things?
Why do so many people have their birthdays just before my pay day? I reckon that all my family and friends as well as the parents-to-be of potential future work colleagues should show a bit more thought when it comes to planning their family. It would only take a few minutes to work out some sort of conception schedule which would mean that their future offspring would be eagerly expecting their presents when my bank account was looking healthy.
There are few things more depressing than buying a sad and cheap looking gift for someone who deserves more. I always try and plan ahead so that I have enough cash left over to buy something nice for everyone but sometimes it just seems impossible to do so. I remember about a year ago I was sitting at my desk in work with my last few coins of the month jangling feebly in my pocket. Just as I was planning what to spend them on a colleague came round collecting for about the 4th birthday of the month. I was left with completely empty pockets for the next few days and even resorted to walking the hour or so to my office.
People Keep Inviting Me Out
If anyone who knows me is reading this can I ask them to please get married, retire, quit their job or make any other life changing decisions just after I get paid? I don’t know why it is but I always get far more invites at the end of the month than at the beginning. I hate the thought of missing out on a good friend’s bash but when there is little cash in the old bank account it is hard to go out and enjoy myself. A few months ago my best friend’s wedding fell at exactly the wrong time of month for me. Since I was the best man I couldn’t very well miss the event but I knew that it was going to cost me far more than I had left in my account. In the end I got a payday advance to get me through the day and this worked out brilliantly. I have never been one for using credit cards or getting big loans but this idea meant that I could borrow just enough to make the special day something which I could enjoy as much as possible.
Bored, Bored, Bored
It is a bit weird but most of the month I am perfectly happy to sit at home and watch the television or play some games. It is only when I don’t have the money to do anything else that I suddenly fancy the idea of doing something more exciting instead. What a horrible feeling it is to be stuck at home knowing that you can’t do anything else. When I feel the urge to do something a bit more fun I now head to one of those payday advance websites, just as I did with the wedding a while back. It is amazing the difference that just a little bit of extra cash in your bank account can make to your attitude at this time of month.
Yes, running out of money before payday sucks! I think that is the main reason that people go into credit card debt.
They spend on their credit cards to get through until payday. Then when the credit card bill arrives next month it comes right before payday again and they don’t have the money to pay it all. Falling behind more and more and the downward cycle starts.
It’s definitely smart to stop using credit cards if you treat them this way.
